Food Therapy

Food Therapy for your Pet at Boulevard Veterinary Hospital in Norfolk, VA.

Food Therapy is a practice of healing using natural foods along with, or instead of, medications.  Foods are classified by Yin and Yang food groups, and by their natures and characteristics.

Food Therapy involves the preparation of using selected food ingredients and superior herbs.  Each recipe has been developed under the supervision of TCVM Theory (Yin-Yang, Five Elements, Eight Principles, and Zang-Fu physiology and pathology) and is designed to treat specific health conditions.  The recipes can be classified into the following categories:

1. Health Promotion and Prevention: to improve health on a regular basis and to prevent seasonal climate related problems

2. Disease Treatment: to treat many clinical conditions including skin problems.

3. Adjunct Therapy: as a complement to a primary treatment being used to treat diseases including otitis, urinary crystals & stones, UTI, IBD, CHF, cancer, renal failure and liver failure.

Food Therapy is tailored to the individual needs of the patient animal.  Dr. Pozniak will examine your pet and consult with you about the treatments recommended for your individual pet’s needs.

Some pet owners are willing to cook for their pets and purchase organic foods. Others want a simple but healthy recommendation for their pet.  We will do our best to make dietary recommendations that are both accommodating to your lifestyle and appropriate to your pet’s food therapy requirements.
