Cold Laser

Cold Laser treatment for your Pet at Boulevard Veterinary Hospital in Norfolk, VA.

What is Cold Laser Therapy? It is both scientific and wonderful at the same time.

Cold Laser therapy (CLT) is a painless medical treatment that involves using a low-powered laser, that generates no heat, to treat pain, swelling and to speed up healing in muscles, tendons, skin and other soft tissue.  Cold Laser therapy will also increase the blood flow to the area of application which helps in the healing process.  Common conditions that respond to CLT include muscular injuries, tendonitis, post-surgery recovery, lesions from excessive licking, open wounds and arthritis.  CLT does not cure arthritis, but it is used to reduce pain and swelling and increase the pet’s range of motion.

The hand-help laser wand is applied directly to the skin, or near the skin if contact with the skin is too painful.  Treatments are performed by Dr. Poznik, or one of our trained technicians. The duration and intensity of the laser varies depending on what is being treated and how deep into the tissue the laser needs to go.  There is no need for fur to be clipped or shaved, or for the pet to be sedated.  Pain medication not necessary after treatment as there is not discomfort with CLT.

If Dr. Pozniak recommends CLT for your pet; they may require multiple treatments the first week, and then you will generally be asked to bring your pet back for additional treatments once or twice a month until the condition is resolved.

When multiple treatments are recommended, We have special packages available that offer significant pre-paid savings.
